Customer Review: Write an online review and share your thoughts with other shoppers! 24 of 24 people found the following review helpful: To the point and informative , March 3, 2004 Reviewer: orchardsam from FARNHAM, SURREY United Kingdom This is one of the more informative guides probably because the author is a legal brain and so understands the contract process. Additionally, there is a helpful summary of the different regions, their attractions and shortfalls and a good explanation of the considerations for running costs for a house in France. Highly recommended. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title . The guide and map illustrations to the different regions are clear and the information given exactly what is needed. One of the best guides to understanding living in France that I have read and I would definitely recommend it --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title . Was this review helpful to you? 108 of 108 people found the following review helpful: PRACTICAL AND COMPREHENSIVE , July 15, 2003 Reviewer: rbandrews from FRANCE Brilliant. Unlike other books on this subject the book is both thorough and easy to read. The layout is good, and information is easy to locate. More importantly it provides practical guidance and information in areas where other books are lacking. We have lived in France for a year now, and we wished we had had this book when we arrived. All the books we had read advised us to rent before buying, but none of them really explained what to do. This book has a great chapter explaining tenant's rights and telling us how to protect ourselves when we come to leave. What I like also is the information on how to settle, both the details about what is available for Brits in France, and how to settle within the French community - the author has clearly lived in France for some time. Anyone wanting to buy in France should take a look at the details about the many areas affected by flooding and termites, not to mention the subsidence in Normandy. We had not realised that one of the houses we were looking atis in fact in a risk area. This book is a must. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title . Innumerable dining experiences are available to tempt nearly every palate. Movie theaters showing the latest first run films can be found in most neighborhoods. Nightclubs and dancing clubs geared to all age groups abound throughout the city, and with the development of Coors Field Stadium and Elitch's Amusement Park in lower downtown, "LoDo" has become an active location with many nightclubs, restaurants and shopping. Denver is the cultural center for the Rocky Mountain region. Covering four square blocks downtown is the city's Denver Center for the Performing Arts. Home to several resident dance, music and theater troupes, the complex has one of the nation's most unique concert halls, three theaters, an arena and a cinema. Broadway and major plays, musicals and musicians are presented throughout the year. Adjoining the center are several levels of parking and a shopping galleria. Also featuring summer concerts is Fiddler's Green located southeast of the city. Denver's suburbs also contribute to the advancement of the arts. The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities has become a model for many other cities contemplating similar facilities for their communities. I'm not sure if they're all "Northern" California. Mostof them are located around San Fransico.1. Stockton-Lodi, CA 23.5%2. Modesto, CA 21.4%3. Salinas, CA 21.2%4. Santa Rosa, CA 18.3%5. Vallejo-Fairfield-Napa,CA 17.4%This data came from: http://www.homestore.com/Finance/HousePriceIndex/TopFive.asp?gate=homebuilder Outside of those five, the top five cities in the area you specifiedare:1. Chico-Paradise, CA 14.8%2. Redding, CA 9.6% 3. Medford-Ashland, OR 9.3% 4. Bremerton, WA 8.4% 5. Tacoma, WA 7.7% This date came from: http://www.homestore.com/Finance/HousePriceIndex/msa_ranking329.asp?gate=homebuilder For some reason, the links on that website do not work properly. Theyhave some sort of ASP error. However, you can see the cities andtheir appreciation rating. You should be able to look the HPA value by City/State at the belowwebsite, but it also gives an error. You may want to check back inthe future. They will probably have fixed the errors. http://www.homestore.com/Finance/HousePriceIndex/default.asp?gate=homebuilder Please note that this data is all based on the Home Price Index, whichis published by the government. The current reports show home priceappreciation through the second quarter of 2001.I found this information by searching Google from "home priceappreciation".
