At a recent conference, IMF experts lamented the lack of timely information on real estate markets. This course covers the statistical methodologies used in constructing both commercial and residential real estate price indexes, which are important tools that financial institutions can use to monitor their exposure to risk from volatility in real estate markets. It also addresses relationships between real estate prices and banking profitability, and the roles that bank credit, GDP, stock equity prices and interest rates play in determining real estate prices.. Who Should Take this Course: Analysts in private and central banks, government financial analysts, lending agencies and organizations such as the IMF and World Bank, anyone who needs to understand the role that real estate prices play in sound banking practices, and the impact they have on financial system stability.
